I lived in Ottawa for about five years in my college years and loved this city. It’s clean, safe (as long as you avoid the sketchy downtown McDonalds late at night) and is a nice place to relax and take in some history. I would like to go back and take some newer more high quality photos of our capital.

Some places to visit in Ottawa:

Major’s Hill Park
The National War Memorial/Tomb of the Unknown Soldier
Byward Market
The Glebe Neighbourhood on Bank Street
Hintonburg Neighbourhood
The Rideau Canal — you can skate it in the winter when the conditions are right. Walking it in the summer is also well worth it.
The National Art Gallery
The War Museum
Gatineau, QC & Casino Du Lac-Leamy — Gatineau is just accross the bridge from Downtown and the casino is commutable by public transit if you don’t have a vehicle.
Gatineau Park — the foliage colours are gorgeous in the fall

Elbow Falls is just outside of Bragg Creek, Alberta and is a beautiful set of little water falls. It’s a popular picturesque stop in the foothills on the way into the mountains.

Lake Minnewanka is one of my favourite lakes in the Rocky Mountains as it’s still touristy and popular without being so crowded it loses it’s natural beauty in a crowd of selfie sticks. I love how teal the water is in Alberta and how it seems to compliment everything surrounding it.

I have visited Confederation Park only once and was very impressed with the Park. It seems to go on almost endlessly so I will have to return and explore the parts of the park I missed during my last visit.

Calgary, AB – Bowness Park

Bowness Park is one of my favourite parks in the city alongside Edworthy and Baker directly across the Bow River. I typically end up in the area around sunset and it offers a lot of photography opportunities as the park is surrounded by water and trees. During the holidays and sometimes at night they light up the trees in white Christmas lights which adds a romantic element to the evening. They rent out canoes, paddle boats etc during the day to putter around the park which makes this park fairly unique.

Calgary, AB – Varsity NW

The Varsity neighbourhood is very picturesque. It’s home to established Calgarians and students alike. It’s close to the river, has lots of greenery and feels like a typical higher end suburb. One of my favourite local coffee shops and book chains are in the area so I wander up in that direction fairly often.

Vancouver is my favourite Canadian city after travelling across the country and seeing all the beauty in this country. The environment is picturesque in British Columbia and there is lots to do, see and eat in Vancouver. I’ve been to the city a number of times both on vacation and with work and it never gets old to me.
